LARTISTA

Principalmente noto come musicista, produttore e tecnico del suono per gruppi rock e psichedelici come Youth Gone Mad, White Zombie e Psychotica, Paul Kostabi è anche un appassionato pittore. Kostabi canalizza la libertà creativa che trova nella musica in tele dai colori vivaci. Spesso dipinge ritratti astratti in linea con i volti confusi di Pablo Picasso. Elenca Julian Schnabel, Jean-Michel Basquiat e Jackson Pollock come fonti di ispirazione per lenergia frenetica delle sue tele.

Kostabi lavora spesso con altri musicisti. Ha dipinto dal vivo a Times Square durante le esibizioni dei Devo e Janes Addiction e ha collaborato con Dee Dee Ramone su alcuni dipinti.
