Antique Late 19th Century Blue & White Spongeware Advertising Stoneware Grandmothers Maple Syrup Jug FH Weeks Akron OH
Charming small sized stoneware syrup jug made by Frederick H. Weeks of Akron, Ohio. Molded with a pouring spout and a bail handle of metal and wood, this jug is marked:"MFGD BY F.H. WEEKS. / STYLE / XXX / PAT. PENDING / AKRON, O."
Front of jug reads:"GRANDMOTHERS / MAPLE SYRUP / OF 50 YEARS AGO" within an oval on the base. Decorated in classic spongeware style with cobalt blue sponging over a white Bristol slip glaze.
Condition:
In good antique condition with age-appropriate wear such as crazing throughout and some staining. There is some chipping to the base, a small shallow chip on the side of the jug, and a nick to the spout (see photos). Minor paint wear on the handle. Typical production flaws such as glaze pops, pottery bumps, pottery gaps, and minor firing lines are present and consistent with early stoneware of this type.Please review all photos closely using the zoom feature for best detail.

5 1/4" tall to the top of the spout, 4 1/2" wide.
