Complete in three densely illustrated volumes.
A lovely collection of paintings and prints by the English Romantic artist Joseph Mallord William Turner. He is widely considered to have elevated landscape painting to a higher standard.
Includes Landscapes, illustrated with forty monochrome plates, Coast Scenery, illustrated with twenty four monochrome plates, and Castles and Abbeys, illustrated with thirty two monochrome plates.
Collated, complete.
Prior owners book plate to the first pastedown of Coast and Castles. From the library of Sir Robert Alfred Cunliffe, British Liberal politician.
CONDITION
In the original publishers cloth bindings. Externally, sound. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. There is some slight wear to the cloth to the heads and tails of the spines. Prior owners book plate to the first pastedown of Coast and Castles. The hinges are loose. Internally, loosely bound. The pages are disbound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot.
