[Product Details] A pair of black cut glass old glasses and gold leaf Fuji cold sake cups handmade by craftsmen one by one. The characteristic of black cut glass is that the colored glass covering the surface of the vessel is very thin and the material is formed by skilled craftsmen using a technique called pan blowing. However because it is so thin the conventional black color does not look black when light shines through it. This time after much trial and error we have succeeded in developing a completely new black glass. The cutting work of this glass is done by placing the glass material on a diamond cutter and carving a pattern into it but because the color is black the part being cut is not visible and the cutting work is finished with about three times the usual effort relying on the intuition of the cut glass craftsmans cultivated fingertip technique. The sharp delicate and beautiful shine unique to cut glass is a glass product that has never been seen before. The characteristic of gold leaf Fuji is Fuji Mountain glass which is popular not only in Japan but also overseas. This is the fourth new design in the "Edo Glass Fuji Mountain Series" that further develops the design. This celebratory cup allows you to enjoy the original luster of gold leaf by skillfully fusing strips of gold leaf at high temperatures onto kise glass which is also used as a material for Kiriko. The black color reflects off the mountainside of Mt. Fuji making it a colorful cup. In addition to enjoying a blissful moment by yourself this is a very elegant cold sake cup that can be used to express your feelings at celebratory occasions or special days. [What is the hexagonal basket pattern] The mesh pattern of bamboo baskets has been called basket pattern since ancient times and it has been loved as a symbol of protection from evil. The hexagonal basket pattern is also engraved on the lanterns of Ise Shrine and it is considered to be an auspicious pattern even today because it looks like a hexagram. Items engraved with this pattern are popular as commemorative gifts for milestones and corporate gifts. [What is Kiriko] Kiriko is a cut pattern carved into glassware using abrasives such as whetstones. This technique is one of the traditional crafts that has been passed down from the late Edo period to the present day. Kiriko is a two-layered glassware made by layering colored glass on the outside and clear glass on the inside and by cutting it you can enjoy the contrast between the colorless and transparent cut surface and the colors of the colored glass as well as the beautiful sparkle. This glassware is a new type of glass craft that combines traditional Kiriko techniques with unique delicate techniques and designs in a hand-blown craft by an artisan. [Characteristics of Kuro Kiriko] Kuro Kiriko is characterized by the fact that the colored glass that covers the surface of the vessel is very thin and the base is made by skilled artisans using a technique called pan blowing.
